Anna Corbett, wife of a man held hostage by the Taliban, tells 'Fox & Friends First' about her recent phone call with her husband and her efforts to get him brought home safely.
Anna Corbett, wife of Paul 'Pete' Corbett, who has been held hostage by the Taliban since April 2022, told 'Fox & Friends First' on Monday that her husband is "losing hope" after 14 months in captivity.

"He's losing hope," Anna said. "He's very concerned about his health. He's not getting the medical care that he needs. He's not getting the food that he needs. He's not getting the water that he needs. He's just losing hope."
Pete Corbett, a 71-year-old retired engineer from California, was working on a humanitarian aid project in Afghanistan when he was kidnapped by the Taliban in April 2022. The Taliban have demanded a ransom of $2 million for his release.

Anna said she spoke to her husband by phone on Saturday for the first time in two months. She said he sounded "weak" and "tired."
"He said, 'I'm losing hope,'" Anna said. "He said, 'I don't know how much longer I can hold on.'"

Anna said she is desperate to get her husband back home. She has been working with the U.S. government and other organizations to secure his release.
"I'm doing everything I can to get him home," Anna said. "I'm not going to give up hope. I'm going to keep fighting for him."

The U.S. government has said it is working to secure the release of Pete Corbett and other American hostages held by the Taliban. However, the government has not provided any details about the negotiations.
Anna said she is grateful for the support she has received from the U.S. government and other organizations. However, she said she is frustrated by the lack of progress in securing her husband's release.

"I just want him home," Anna said. "I want him home safe and sound."
