Anti-Trump Republicans Sound the Alarm About Biden, Endorse Kamala Harris

More than 200 former Republican officials, including veterans of the Bush, McCain, and Romney administrations, have expressed grave concerns about President Biden's leadership and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

Over 200 anti-Trump Republicans, including former officials from the Bush, McCain, and Romney administrations, have penned an open letter expressing serious reservations about President Biden's leadership and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris for president.

The letter, published in USA Today on Monday, cites President Biden's performance in the recent presidential debate as a catalyst for their concerns. The officials describe the debate as "terrible" and argue that Biden's mental and physical fitness to lead the country is diminishing.

"We reunite today, joined by new George H.W. Bush alumni, to reinforce our 2020 statements and, for the first time, jointly declare that we’re voting for Vice President Kamala Harris and Gov. Tim Walz this November," the letter states.

The Republicans argue that Vice President Harris possesses the experience and temperament to lead the country, and they urge moderate Republicans and conservative independents to vote for her.

"Of course, we have plenty of honest, ideological disagreements with Vice President Harris and Gov. Walz. That’s to be expected. The alternative, however, is simply untenable," the letter continues.

The endorsement from these prominent Republicans follows a similar endorsement released last week by a dozen Republican White House lawyers who served under former presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.

The former officials lambast former President Trump's leadership as "chaotic" and accuse him of wanting to advance the goals of Project 2025, a Republican blueprint for a potential GOP administration that Trump has repeatedly denied involvement in.

The letter also charges Trump and his running mate, Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), with kowtowing to dictators and turning their backs on U.S. allies.

"We can’t let that happen," the officials write.

The Republicans conclude their letter by appealing to moderate Republicans and conservative independents to vote for Harris and other leaders who will "strive for consensus, not chaos; that will work to unite, not divide; that will make our country and our children proud."

In response to the letter, Trump Campaign Communications Director Steven Cheung dismissed the signatories as "nobodies" and accused them of putting the country's interests behind their own dislike of Trump.

The open letter represents a significant development in the 2023 presidential race, signaling growing unease among some Republicans about Biden's leadership and a willingness to support alternative candidates.
