Villa started the game brightly and had the first chance of the match when Ollie Watkins fired wide from inside the box.

United then grew into the game and had a great chance to take the lead when Cristiano Ronaldo was played through on goal, but the Portuguese forward dragged his shot wide.

Villa had another good chance just before half-time when Douglas Luiz's free-kick was tipped over the bar by David de Gea.

The second half was a more even affair, with both sides having chances to win the game.

Villa came close when Leon Bailey's shot was cleared off the line by Harry Maguire, while United had a great chance when Bruno Fernandes' shot was saved by Emiliano Martinez.

In the end, neither side could find a breakthrough and the game finished goalless.
