Biden and UK Discuss Ukraine Defense amid Concerns over Long-Range Missiles

US President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met to discuss Ukraine defense and the potential use of long-range missiles, raising concerns among critics who warn of escalation. Robert F. Kennedy Jr. denounced the move, calling it "reckless."

Washington, D.C. - President Joe Biden and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak met to discuss ongoing support for Ukraine's defense against Russia's aggression. The meeting focused on supplying Ukraine with additional weapons and equipment, including long-range missiles, a move that has sparked controversy.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., son of the late U.S. Attorney General and presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, has strongly criticized the Biden administration's intention to provide Ukraine with long-range missiles, arguing that it constitutes a significant escalation of the conflict. Kennedy called out both Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken for their stance.

Kennedy's statement on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, expressed his concern: "Secretary Blinken, President Biden — STOP IT! Stop this reckless escalation. I say this not as a political partisan, but simply as a citizen of the world."

Russia has repeatedly warned that providing Ukraine with long-range missiles would be seen as a direct attack on Russia and could lead to an escalation of the conflict potentially involving NATO countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has stated that his regime will "take appropriate decisions based on the threats." He has emphasized that Russia will defend its territory and respond accordingly to any perceived threats.

Western powers, including the United States and other NATO member nations, have previously prohibited Ukraine from using NATO-supplied weapons in attacks on Russian territory, demanding they be used solely for defensive purposes.

However, Ukraine has launched several incursions into Russia in recent months, hoping to change the course of the conflict. Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelenskyy has been pressing the U.S. and NATO to remove the targeting restrictions for months.

Putin's recent statement on Thursday drew a clear red line, warning that if NATO countries, specifically the U.S. and European nations, enter into conflict with Russia, "this will mean...NATO countries are at war with Russia."

Putin added, "And if this is so, then, bearing in mind the change in the very essence of this conflict, we will make appropriate decisions based on the threats that will be created for us."

Despite Putin's consistent threats of conflict with the U.S. and NATO throughout his invasion of Ukraine, international support for Ukraine has been unwavering, making the invasion a costly endeavor for Putin.

Former CIA Moscow station chief Dan Hoffman told Fox News Digital, "Putin's war in Ukraine has been a massive failure – hundreds of thousands of casualties, a brain drain, a million Russians have fled, Sweden and Finland are now NATO members, the list goes on."

Hoffman asserted that Putin's rhetoric is directed toward Biden and his administration, which has been criticized for delays in sending essential defense equipment to Ukraine.

Hoffman believes Putin's threats are effective, arguing, "We shouldn't be micromanaging how [Ukrainians] conduct their war."
