Biden's CHNV Immigration Program: Fraud-Ridden and Flawed

The Biden administration's parole program for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela has been plagued by fraud, raising concerns about national security and the prioritization of urgent humanitarian needs.

The Biden-Harris administration's CHNV (Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans) parole program, recently restarted despite fraud concerns, has come under fire once again. An internal DHS report revealed overwhelming fraud within the program, highlighting fake Social Security numbers, home addresses, and phone numbers provided by sponsors.

Over 100,000 sponsor application forms were submitted by a mere 3,218 sponsors, with credentials used repeatedly. Deceased individuals and non-existent ZIP codes were also used as sponsors. Despite these findings, DHS has resumed the program, claiming additional vetting processes are in place.

However, critics argue that the fraud is indicative of a flawed program that allows the administration to bypass Congress and make unilateral immigration decisions. The CHNV program has already admitted approximately half a million foreign nationals, adding to the already soaring numbers of migrants at the border.

The parole system, originally intended for select cases with urgent humanitarian reasons, has been abused by the Biden-Harris administration. Parolees under the CHNV program are likely to remain in the country permanently, as the administration aims to ensure their stay.

This poses national security risks, as initial parolee vetting processes may not be rigorous enough to detect potential threats. Encounters with individuals on the terrorist watchlist at the border have also steadily climbed during the Biden-Harris administration.

Humanitarian concerns have also been raised. The system is flooded with requests from non-urgent cases, leaving individuals with extreme humanitarian needs unable to access the parole process. Two recent cases involved children with leukemia who could not receive emergency medical attention through parole, as the system was overloaded.

The CHNV program violates congressional intent, invites fraud through inadequate vetting, and poses national security risks. Attorney General Merrick Garland and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas have been called upon to end the program.

Beyond canceling the CHNV program, the Biden-Harris administration must address the broader immigration crisis. They must stop the unlawful abuse of parole and take action to secure the border. Failure to do so will result in further illegal crossings, terrorist watch list encounters, and immigration-related disasters.
