President Biden's quest for a second term hangs precariously as his campaign contends with a surge in defections by donors, a decline in poll ratings, and mounting pressure from within the Democratic Party to abandon his bid for re-election.
Former Clinton advisor Paul Begala raised the alarm on CNN, stating, "I've been conversing with numerous individuals, legislators, leading donors, and party officials, and I must admit, I've encountered few individuals who still enthusiastically support Biden." Begala asserted, "The walls are closing in."

Amid growing calls for his departure, Biden has steadfastly refused to bow out of the race. However, recent reports indicate that prominent Democratic leaders are holding clandestine meetings with the president, imploring him to step aside due to concerns about his electability against former President Trump.
Nancy Pelosi, a long-time Biden ally and former House Speaker, has reportedly made such a proposition to the president during private conversations. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has also reportedly raised objections to Biden's continued candidacy, arguing that he should "bow out of the race," according to ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent Jonathan Karl.

Begala emphasized the gravity of the situation, stating that Biden "has to" heed such advice. He cited three critical factors: "It comes down to money, maps, and polls. The money has dried up."
Major liberal donors are withholding financial support following Biden's lackluster debate performance in June. Celebrity supporters have also threatened to cease donations as long as Biden remains the nominee, as reported by Variety.

Furthermore, the president's prospects in traditional Democratic strongholds and swing states are deteriorating, according to Begala. "The maps are deteriorating so fast that New York's lieutenant governor considers it a swing state. People speculate about losing New Jersey. The polling is terrible, especially in the swing states."
Acknowledging the intensifying pressure, the Biden campaign maintains that he intends to remain a candidate. "Our campaign is not considering any scenarios where President Biden is not at the top of the ticket. He is and will be the Democratic nominee," Biden's principal deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks declared.
However, the escalating dissent and dwindling support suggest that Biden's re-election hopes may be on the verge of collapse, leaving the future of the Democratic Party in uncertain waters.
