Country music star Billy Ray Cyrus has filed a new court document claiming that his estranged wife, Firerose, was physically, verbally, and emotionally abusive during their seven-month marriage.

Cyrus vehemently denies Firerose's previous counter-suit claims that he abused her, stating that it is he who has been the victim of abuse. The documents, filed in a Tennessee court on Monday, assert that Cyrus has been "verbally and emotionally abused by the Defendant, but PHYSICALLY abused by Defendant."

The filing also claims that Firerose had previously accused him of abuse "Only to sensationalize her false complaints by using the word ‘abuse.’"

Cyrus's team has provided evidence to support their claims, including a screenshot of an alleged text message from Firerose apologizing for an undisclosed reason and pleading with Cyrus for another chance. A handwritten note allegedly left by Firerose at their home after Cyrus filed to end their marriage also implores him to take her back.

Cyrus alleges that he only discovered that Hodges was not Firerose's maiden name after they were married, accusing her of lying to him to secure the marriage. He further claims that Firerose married him "with the sole intention of inducing Plaintiff into a marriage to obtain the name ‘Cyrus’ under the belief it would help her fledgling music career."

The filing also alleges that Cyrus believes Firerose is hiding things about her past and has threatened to spread false information about his reasons for filing for divorce.

Scott Adkins, Cyrus's personal manager, has signed an affidavit attesting to witnessing Firerose's abusive behavior towards Cyrus.

Cyrus finds Firerose's accusations of abuse "mindboggling" and deems her expectation that they will ever perform together or be professionally involved in the future as "comical."

In her counter-suit, Firerose's legal team claimed that she had been subjected to "extreme verbal, emotional, and psychological abuse" and that Cyrus's drug use had made him "unpredictable and volatile."
