Mosley, 67, had been missing since Wednesday after he went on a solitary hike along St. Nicholas Beach near the village of Pedi on the small mountainous island. Despite a multi-day search involving police, the fire brigade, the coast guard, and volunteers using a helicopter, drones, and a rescue dog, Mosley could not be located until his body was spotted on Sunday.

According to Lefteris Papakalodoukas, the island's mayor, Mosley's body was discovered near the rocky coast above Agia Marina beach. Papakalodoukas, who was aboard a boat with state ERT TV journalists, noticed the body against a fence around 10 a.m. The mayor stated, "We zoomed with the cameras and saw it was him."

Antonis Mystiloglou, a cameraman with TV ERT, confirmed the discovery and added that the body had a leather bag in one hand. Formal identification of the body is still pending.

Mosley's disappearance was reported to authorities by his wife, Dr. Clare Bailey, after he failed to return from his hike. The search for Mosley was conducted on and off the coast of Symi in the eastern Aegean, but the scorching temperatures of 104 degrees Fahrenheit hindered the efforts.
