Caitlin Clark: Indiana Fever Aiming for Playoff Return, Not Instant Success

Despite a slow start, Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have won three straight games. Clark believes the team is starting to click and build chemistry, and they are aiming for a return to the playoffs.

Caitlin Clark, the Indiana Fever's top pick in the 2023 WNBA Draft, knows that the team has a long way to go before they can contend for a championship.

But after winning their third straight game earlier this week, with Clark posting a monstrous 18-point, 12-rebound, six-assist performance, the tides changed for some.

"I think everybody just loves instant satisfaction in our world," Clark said. "No one came in here and said we were going to be WNBA champions from day one in our locker room. That was never our goal. Our goal was to get back to the playoffs and we’re fighting for that every single night."

The Fever have the youngest team in the WNBA, and they have had a tough schedule to start the season. But Clark believes that the team is starting to click and build chemistry.

"We're starting to click and build some chemistry," Clark said. "It's one day at a time. But like I said, everybody loves instant satisfaction. But, sure, we would have probably loved that too. But I think we all kept a good perspective on knowing we need to get better one step at a time and that's what we’re going to continue to do even though we’ve won three in a row at home here."

The Fever are now 7-10 on the season, and they are in contention for a playoff spot. Clark is averaging 15.6 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, and she is one of the most exciting young players in the WNBA.

The Fever will take on the Chicago Sky on Sunday, just a week after Angel Reese was hit with a flagrant foul against Clark in their latest matchup. Clark said that she is not worried about Reese, and that she is focused on helping the Fever win games.

"I'm not worried about her," Clark said. "I'm just worried about helping my team win. That's all that matters."

The Fever are a young team with a lot of potential. Clark is a rising star, and she is surrounded by a talented group of players. If the Fever can continue to improve, they could be a playoff contender this season.
