City of Dreams": A Harrowing Portrayal of the Scourge of Child Trafficking

In the face of the staggering global crisis of child trafficking, "City of Dreams" emerges as a powerful cinematic call to action. Executive producer Tony Robbins and director Mohit Ramchandani join forces to shed light on the grim realities of this exploitation industry, urging viewers to confront its abhorrent practices and demand accountability.

As the summer box office sizzled with the release of "Sound of Freedom," a poignant drama that ignited a movement against child trafficking, a new film unflinchingly delves into the same urgent issue. "City of Dreams," which graced theaters in July, portrays the harrowing journey of Jesús, a young Mexican boy whose aspirations for soccer stardom are brutally shattered when he is trafficked across the U.S. border into the heart of Los Angeles, where he becomes a victim of sweatshop enslavement.

Tony Robbins, renowned life and business coach and executive producer of the film, joined forces with director Mohit Ramchandani in an appearance on "Jesse Watters Primetime" to underscore their fervent hope that "City of Dreams" will serve as a potent "call to action" to awaken the public to this insidious crime.

"With 'Sound of Freedom,' we witnessed a similar outpouring of support from audiences who were deeply moved by the film's message," Robbins recounted. "Throughout our eight-year involvement in this fight, my wife and I have dedicated ourselves to freeing over 50,000 children from the clutches of this evil."

Ramchandani, drawing upon his personal connection to the issue, revealed that his father had endured deplorable sweatshop conditions as a mere seven-year-old. "The idea for 'City of Dreams' was always present in my mind," he explained. "Upon moving to America and embarking on my filmmaking journey, I stumbled upon a case involving 72 immigrants trapped in a house in El Monte, California, a mere 40 minutes from my home."

Disgusted and horrified, Ramchandani delved further into the prevalence of such cases, uncovering the widespread exploitation of children forced to labor in clandestine workshops, producing goods for unsuspecting consumers. "This was a story that had yet to be fully exposed in the mainstream media," he emphasized. "Fueled by a deep sense of outrage, I sought to bring this hidden reality to light."

Former Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, who also lends his support as a producer for the film, spoke to Fox News Digital about the profound impact "City of Dreams" aims to have on its viewers. "This film is a stark and unsettling wake-up call to the pervasive nature of human trafficking, not only abroad but right here in the United States," he stated.

Collaborating with Ramchandani and Robbins are a collective of notable producers and ambassadors, including Sean Wolfington (executive producer of "Sound of Freedom"), Mira Sorvino (executive producer), Sylvester Stallone, Martin Sheen, Kathie Lee Gifford, Pat Riley, Katheryn Winnick, and Marisol Nichols.

According to the U.S. Department of State, a staggering 27.6 million individuals worldwide were subjected to human trafficking in 2023. An interim report released in August 2023 revealed that within the past five years, over 32,000 unaccompanied migrant children have vanished without a trace from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.

Robbins expressed grave concern over these alarming statistics, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the issue. "When you learn of countless children being displaced and unaccounted for, it becomes overwhelmingly apparent that the problem is far more widespread than we realize," he said.

"However, 'City of Dreams' goes beyond mere statistics," Robbins continued. "It tells a compelling story of resilience and heroism, demonstrating how a single young boy, against insurmountable odds, not only liberates himself but inspires others to do the same."

"We envision this film as a catalyst for change," Robbins declared. "Just as 'Uncle Tom's Cabin' played a pivotal role in galvanizing the nation against slavery, we hope 'City of Dreams' will awaken people to the horrors of child trafficking and ignite a movement for accountability and action."
