Jamaica, meanwhile, failed to earn a single point in the tournament, extending their winless streak in Copa América to nine games.

Ecuador secured a spot in the quarterfinals as the runner-up in Group B after a goalless draw with Mexico.

Ecuador's qualification marks the third time in the last four editions of the Copa América that they have reached the quarterfinals.

Mexico, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing elimination after failing to win their final group game for the third consecutive time. This is the first time Mexico has been eliminated in the group stage after opening the tournament with a win.

Mexico's paltry goal tally (one) matched their lowest ever at a Copa América tournament.

The match between Mexico and Ecuador marked the fourth meeting between the two sides in the Copa América, with Mexico holding a narrow 2-1-1 edge in the all-time matchup.

Despite controlling possession for much of the game, Mexico failed to create clear-cut chances and were ultimately held to a draw.

In other Copa América action on Sunday, Argentina defeated Paraguay 1-0 to win Group A, while Canada also advanced to the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win over Uruguay.
