Dak Prescott Believes He Can Reach Contract Agreement with Dallas Cowboys

Despite reports suggesting a deal will wait until after the 2024 season, Dak Prescott remains optimistic about securing a contract extension with the Dallas Cowboys.

Dak Prescott, the star quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys, is maintaining his belief that a contract extension can be reached with the team, despite reports indicating that a deal is unlikely before the start of the 2024 NFL season.

Prescott, who is entering the final year of his current four-year, $160 million contract, expressed his conviction in securing a new deal during a recent interview with ESPN.

"I'm a guy that grew up with two older brothers. You understand what a brotherhood means, not only for just this team, but the fraternity of the NFL and the players," Prescott said. "The money is out there and the money can happen."

Prescott acknowledged the rising market for quarterbacks, with several players recently securing lucrative contracts worth over $50 million per season in average annual value. However, he believes that a mutually beneficial agreement can be reached.

"It can be done. There's ways to make everything work for both ways," Prescott said. "That's, in that sense, it's always about pushing the envelope for the next man."

Prescott's optimism stems from his trust in his agent, Todd France, who handles the contract negotiations with the Cowboys.

"I've never truly cared about the number whether it was the first time in the franchise tag and the negotiations or now," Prescott said. "That's why I said I have an agent that I'm confident in and a front office that we can figure out something for both of us that makes sense."

Prescott's contract situation is part of a larger picture for the Cowboys, who also have star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb and star linebacker Micah Parsons seeking extensions. Lamb is currently holding out for a new deal, while Parsons is eligible for an extension this offseason after three impressive seasons in the NFL.

With the Cowboys looking to maintain their competitiveness in the NFC, securing Prescott's long-term future will be a crucial step. Prescott has established himself as one of the league's top quarterbacks, leading the Cowboys to a 12-5 record last season while throwing for 4,516 yards and 36 touchdowns.

Prescott's faith in his agent and his belief in a mutually beneficial deal suggest that the Cowboys and their star quarterback can eventually reach a resolution. However, the timing of such an agreement remains uncertain, with reports indicating that a deal is unlikely in the immediate future.
