Despite living separately for over a decade, Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman remain deeply connected as a family, sharing a granddaughter and continuing their creative collaborations.
In the world of Hollywood, celebrity relationships often come and go, but the bond between Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman has stood the test of time, even after their split in 2012.
In an interview with Fox News Digital, DeVito shared that although he and Perlman don't share a home, they are still intimately connected as a family. "We're doing great," DeVito said. "We're sharing our granddaughter, our new granddaughter, and we see each other all the time."
Their enduring connection stems from their long history together. They met in 1970 and have been through countless ups and downs over the years. "We've been together for that long, and you grow together. It's like you really know how each other's feeling all the time," DeVito explained.
Their family bond has remained strong despite their decision to live apart. "We're a tight family," DeVito said. "We participate in conversation daily. Lots and lots of talking and [doing] a lot of things together."
DeVito and Perlman co-parent their three children: Lucy, Grace, and Jake. They also welcomed their first grandchild, Sinclair Lucille DeVito, in March 2022. "Lucy's birthday was yesterday. We were together for the birthday party, and we had a family party," DeVito said. "We have a beautiful bunch of kids."
In addition to their familial bond, DeVito and Perlman have collaborated professionally over the years. Perlman played DeVito's on-screen girlfriend in the sitcom "Taxi," and they starred together in the iconic fantasy film "Matilda" in 1996.
DeVito remembers those times fondly, stating, "I love being a dad and I love my kids. I loved raising them." He is now embracing his new role as a grandfather, finding immense joy in the simple interactions with his granddaughter. "You get to watch them, you know, hold your fingers and grab your hair and take your glasses and squeeze their foot," he said.
DeVito and Perlman are also a source of inspiration for their children, who have witnessed their resilience and the strength of their family bond firsthand. "They know what the most important thing in the world is right now," DeVito said of his children. "And that's that little baby. Everything else is just gravy, you know, like, this is the most important. That's big time."
