The girl was stabbed in the hand with a butcher-style knife, and when her mother tried to intervene, the suspect also attempted to stab her before fleeing the scene. The teen was treated for her injuries and has since been released from a hospital.

Authorities recovered a knife believed to have been used in the attack and identified Yanez as a person of interest, warning the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.

The extensive search for Yanez continued throughout Sunday, and he was eventually located in the southern part of Lake County. According to the sheriff's office, Yanez was spotted running through a cornfield by a police officer, who apprehended him.

Investigators believe that Yanez had changed his appearance by cutting his hair just prior to his arrest. Yanez is currently in custody at the Lake County Jail while the investigation into the stabbing continues. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security has also been notified of his arrest.
