After meeting at his apartment, Barrymore and her date proceeded to the basement, where she spotted a large roll of clear plastic. "I can't even explain how large," she exclaimed.

"And I am in this room, and I look down and I just went, 'I need to go back upstairs,'" Barrymore said. "OK, stop. Why are you going to the basement?" co-host Ross Mathews interjected, referencing Barrymore's iconic role in the slasher film "Scream."

Undeterred, Barrymore continued, "So, we go into the basement, which is the laundry room. And I'm a big fan of laundry. So, he was like, 'Oh, you should see the laundry room. Look at this.'"

However, the sight of the large plastic roll triggered an immediate sense of foreboding in Barrymore. "I'm in this room, and I look down and I just went, 'I need to go back upstairs,'" she recalled.

Once back upstairs, Barrymore admitted to her date that she had feared for her life. "I said, 'You know, I know we don't really know each other, but I was really afraid that you were going to murder me,'" Barrymore remembered telling him.

Surprisingly, her confession did not deter her date but instead resulted in an unusual connection. "We knew each other for a couple years and would see each other here and there and made [better] friends than, like, dating, but we always joked about it," Barrymore explained.

"The night I thought he was gonna murder me," she added.

Barrymore's experience serves as a reminder of the importance of trusting one's gut instincts and prioritizing safety on first dates. Despite the chilling nature of her story, Barrymore found a way to turn it into a humorous anecdote, showing her resilience and the ability to laugh at even the most unsettling of experiences.
