In a statement on his website, Lopez said that he was "deeply hurt and disappointed" by the heckler's behavior. He said that he had never experienced anything like that before in his career.
"I have always been a comedian who has been able to connect with my audience on a personal level," Lopez said. "I love making people laugh, and I take my responsibility to my fans very seriously."
Lopez said that he was "heartbroken" that he had to walk out of the show, but he felt that he had no choice. He said that he could not continue to perform in an environment where he felt disrespected.
