Fear Not: Finding Courage in the Presence of God

Danica McKellar shares how her faith in God guides her parenting and gives her strength to face challenges and fears.

In a world that often seems out of control, it can be difficult to live without fear. From natural disasters to global conflicts, it's easy to feel overwhelmed by the uncertainty that surrounds us. However, the Bible repeatedly commands us to "fear not."

This command may seem counterintuitive, especially in the face of adversity. How can we possibly not live in fear when everything around us feels so chaotic? The answer lies in our faith in God.

In Isaiah 40:11, God says, "Don’t panic. I’m with you. There’s no need to fear for I’m your God. I’ll give you strength. I’ll help you. I’ll hold you steady, keep a firm grip on you."

When God commands something, we can be certain that it's for a good reason, for our good, and to glorify Him. In this case, God commands us not to fear because He is with us.

This is not just an empty promise. God is the Almighty, the Judge of all nations, and the Ruler of all rulers. He is the beginning and the end, the One who has already defeated evil and death.

When God says, "I'm with you," He means it. He is present in all our circumstances, even the terrifying ones. And He will ultimately prevail over every difficulty we face.

Those who have placed their hope in Christ do not need to be fearful. We have been given supernatural peace to withstand even the most challenging times because we know who wins in the end.

However, living fearlessly does not mean ignoring reality or hoping for the best. It means believing that God is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do. It involves drawing on the assurance of His presence, which empowers us to "fear not."

In the face of our fears, it's important to remember God's promise: "’I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So, we may boldly say, ‘The Lord is my Helper. I will not fear.  What can man to do me.’" (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Draw closer to God for your courage. Pray fervently for His will to be done on Earth as it is in heaven. By trusting in His presence and power, we can find the courage to "fear not" and live in His peace.
