A Florida homeowner was hailed a hero after he fatally stabbed an intruder who shot his wife during a home invasion. The suspect, Lindsey Glenn, had a history of criminal convictions and used a ruse to gain entry into the couple's home.

The incident occurred on Thursday in Avon Park, Florida, when 62-year-old Lindsey Glenn, a former prisoner with a history of felony convictions, used a ruse to trick an elderly couple into letting him inside their home on Joe Hilton Street.
Upon entering the home, Glenn allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the female victim, 69, in the face, severely wounding her.
Witnessing the attack, the male victim, also 69, sprang into action and grabbed a garden knife. He repeatedly stabbed Glenn with the 7-inch blade, killing him.
The female victim, bleeding profusely, stumbled out of the home and onto the porch of their next-door neighbor. She was rushed to a trauma center, where she is currently in stable condition. The male victim sustained minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital before being released.
Glenn, according to Sheriff Paul Blackman, was "cut to pieces" and "very much deceased" when authorities arrived at the scene.
"I would like to commend the male victim for his bravery and quick action in defending his wife and their home," Blackman said in a video update on the incident. "We will pray for his wife that she has a fast and full recovery."
Glenn had a criminal past, having served at least six prison sentences for burglary and robbery charges.
The Highlands County Sheriff's Office is conducting a full investigation into the incident.
