Fury Over Early Release of Tesla Driver Convicted in Road Rage Attacks

A Tesla driver convicted of committing violent assaults on multiple motorists in Southern California has been released from prison after serving less than a year of a five-year sentence, sparking outrage among his victims.

Pipe-wielding Tesla driver Nathaniel Walter Radimak, 37, went on a spree of violent attacks targeting mostly female drivers, leaving them traumatized and with damaged property. Despite being convicted in September 2023 of assault, vandalism, elder abuse, and making criminal threats, Radimak's release on August 28, 2024, has raised concerns about public safety.

The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) explained that Radimak received 424 days of credit for time served while awaiting sentencing and was eligible for good behavior credits during his incarceration.

However, victims expressed shock and dismay at his early release, feeling that the justice system had failed them. They were not consulted or had the opportunity to contest the decision, fueling their fear that Radimak might retaliate or continue his violent behavior.

"I'm unable to believe such a short sentence would result in any sort of behavioral reform or rehabilitation considering the length of time he's been committing crimes," said one unidentified victim during a virtual news conference with attorney Gloria Allred.

Another victim expressed concern that her name being released might make her a target for Radimak's retaliation. "He is a menace to society, and I strongly disagree about his early release," she stated.

Allred echoed these concerns, emphasizing that the victims have been deeply affected by Radimak's actions and are still trying to recover. "His early release has shocked and disappointed many of the victims whom I represent," she said.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office clarified that it does not determine inmate release dates, a responsibility that falls on the CDCR. The DA's office expressed sympathy for the victims and stated, "The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office does not determine when an inmate will be released from custody. This, as well as the notification of victims, is the responsibility of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation."

According to the CDCR, Radimak was released to parole supervision in Los Angeles County. However, victims remain concerned about their safety and are urging authorities to take their concerns seriously. They believe that Radimak's early release sends a dangerous message that violent behavior will not be adequately punished.
