"When I hear people say I will vote for Kamala Harris because she is a Black woman, she is so much more than that. She’s so uniquely qualified to be president of this country," King stated.

However, King made no mention of her past financial contributions to Harris and other Democrats. According to Open Secrets, King donated $9,000 to Harris' 2010 California Attorney General campaign. She also contributed over $33,000 to the DNC Services Corp and $7,300 to Barack Obama.

King's comments have sparked criticism from some quarters for failing to disclose her financial dealings with Harris. Critics have argued that such information is relevant to viewers who wish to assess her objectivity in discussing the vice president.

Despite the omission, King expressed support for Harris' candidacy.

"I do not think anybody should vote for anybody because of their race, the color of their skin, or their gender. You vote for people because of the values that are in line with yours and their qualifications," King said.

King's remarks came during the third day of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where Harris is set to deliver her acceptance speech for the nomination on Thursday evening.

Harris has enjoyed a surge in positive media coverage since President Biden withdrew from the 2024 race. A recent poll by The Associated Press found that 48% of Americans now have a favorable view of Harris, up from 39% earlier this year.

According to a study by the conservative Media Research Center, the big three networks' coverage of Harris has been overwhelmingly positive, with 84% of comments from reporters, anchors, and guests being favorable. This contrasts starkly with the 89% negative coverage received by former President Donald Trump.

The DNC will conclude on Thursday with Harris' acceptance speech, marking a pivotal moment in her bid for the presidency.
