"Donald Trump is just frankly fortunate to be alive again. Another tough weekend in my home state, in this case, Florida. For the second time this year, Donald Trump was nearly assassinated. It was much closer than people know," Hannity said on his show.

Hannity highlighted the quick actions of Secret Service agents who engaged the alleged shooter from an open field, preventing a potential assassination.

"If not for one eagle-eyed Secret Service officer and several others who engaged the shooter from an open field, Donald Trump likely would not be alive tonight. It seems that the potential assassin here was within moments of firing that shot," Hannity said.

The Fox News host praised the agents involved, calling their actions "heroic" and stating that they were willing to sacrifice their own lives to protect Trump.

"It is clear that the agents on Trump's security detail all acted heroically. They were all willing to sacrifice their own bodies in the face of imminent danger. 'No greater love hath man than to lay down their life for another.' That's those guys and those men and women," Hannity said.

Hannity also criticized the leadership of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Secret Service for what he called a "glaring security failure."

"Now, this was yet another glaring security failure by the leadership at the DHS, the Secret Service, but they don't see it that way. They're saying they're doing everything right. This was like -- if that was a dress rehearsal for a successful assassination, you couldn't have drawn it up any better," Hannity said.

The Secret Service has not commented on Hannity's claims.

The alleged assassination attempt against Trump comes amidst ongoing threats against former and current political figures. In recent months, several elected officials have been targeted by violence or threats of violence, raising concerns about the safety of public figures.

The incident highlights the heightened security concerns surrounding high-profile individuals and the need for adequate protection measures to prevent potential threats.
