Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign has criticized former President Trump's interview with billionaire Elon Musk on X, labelling it as a platform for Trump's "extremist" views and self-serving interests.

Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign has launched a scathing attack on former President Donald Trump's interview with billionaire Elon Musk on X, labelling it a promotion of "self-obsessed rich guys" who prioritize their own interests over those of the middle class.

The interview, conducted on X Spaces, a live audio chat feature on the social media platform, was met with technical difficulties at its inception but ultimately drew millions of listeners. It provided Trump with a platform to expound on various issues, including immigration, his assassination attempt, inflation, and his proposal to eliminate the Department of Education.

Harris campaign spokesperson Joseph Costello released a statement excoriating Trump for his policy proposals and taking a jab at the technical glitches that plagued the X Space interview. He characterized Trump's extremism and the controversial Project 2025, a right-wing policy document that Trump is said to have distanced himself from, as the driving forces behind his campaign.

Costello further accused Trump of prioritizing individuals like Musk, who he labelled as "self-obsessed rich guys," over the interests of the middle class. He asserted that Trump's campaign serves the interests of those who would "sell out the middle class."

Project 2025, authored by conservatives including former Trump administration officials, has drawn criticism for its authoritarian and Christian nationalist leanings, which some argue would undermine civil liberties.

Trump's return to X after an almost year-long absence was marked by a flurry of campaign ads preceding his interview with Musk. Prior to Musk's acquisition of X in 2022, Trump had been suspended from the platform following the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot.

During the interview, Trump addressed President Joe Biden's decision to suspend his re-election campaign, calling it a "coup" orchestrated by Democrats to force Biden out of the race. He also criticized Biden as "the worst president in history."
