Detroit, Michigan - In a rousing speech before a packed airport hangar in Detroit, Vice President Kamala Harris declared that the upcoming election would be a "fight."
"We like a good fight," said Harris, who became the Democratic Party's presidential nominee two and a half weeks ago after President Joe Biden withdrew from the race and endorsed her as his successor.

Hours earlier, Trump called into Fox News' "Fox and Friends" and painted Harris and Walz as ultra-liberals.
"Nobody knew how radical left she was, but he's a smarter version of her, if you want to know the truth," Trump claimed. "He's probably about the same as Bernie Sanders. He's probably more so than Bernie Sanders."

Trump continued, "This is a ticket that would want this country to go communist immediately, if not sooner."
Harris, who has a long record of progressive accomplishments in the Senate, has moderated her views somewhat since becoming vice president. She has emphasized her commitment to bipartisanship and her willingness to work with Republicans on issues such as infrastructure and healthcare.
Walz, a former Army National Guard officer and teacher, is more centrist than Harris. He is seen as a moderate Democrat who has a strong understanding of rural America. His selection as Harris' running mate was designed to appeal to swing voters and expand the Democratic base.
