Hunt, who is spearheading Trump's outreach to Black voters, outlined in a statement to Fox News Digital that Biden has made "explicitly racist comments, authored and endorsed discriminatory policies, and associated with individuals known as segregationists." As part of Hellfire PAC's strategy, the organization will launch a national campaign to inform voters about Biden's perceived history on race.
The Hellfire PAC ad opens with then-rival candidate Kamala Harris questioning Biden's opposition to school desegregation during the 2020 Democratic presidential primary. It continues by highlighting Biden's connections with segregationist Southern Democrats, such as former Senators James O. Eastland and Herman Talmadge.

Biden has faced criticism for his association with these figures, as well as for his past comments on race. In 2019, he ignited a firestorm when he fondly recalled the "civility" of the old Senate and his ability to work with opponents of racial integration. In response to subsequent criticism, Biden insisted that there is "not a racist bone in my body."
The ad also features excerpts from Biden's political career that have been criticized as racially insensitive. In 2012, he told Black voters that Republicans were "going to put y'all back in chains." In another instance, during a 2019 campaign event in Iowa, he remarked that "poor kids are just as bright and just as talented as white kids."

Hunt, who is Black, emphasized to Fox News Digital that no Republican would tolerate similar behavior. "Any Republican with even the slightest history that Joe Biden has on race would be ostracized, canceled, and excoriated by the media," he said. "When Democrat President Joe Biden does it, there's always an excuse, and when there's not an excuse, the behavior and the policies are simply memory-holed."
The ad will be aired in Atlanta, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Charlotte, Milwaukee, and Detroit during the CNN Presidential Debate. Exit polls from the 2020 election show that Trump won 19% of Black male voters, although the vast majority of Black voters supported Biden.
The Hellfire PAC ad is the latest in a series of efforts by Republicans to highlight Biden's record on race. The Trump campaign has also set up shop in Blue Philadelphia to battle for Pennsylvania, a key battleground state.
