Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, arrived at a Delaware court on Friday for a pretrial hearing on federal gun charges. This appearance follows multiple failed attempts by his defense team to have the charges dismissed.

The charges against Hunter Biden stem from a 2018 incident involving the purchase and possession of a firearm. According to the indictment, Biden falsely stated on a firearm transaction report that he was not an unlawful user or addicted to any controlled substances. However, records indicate that he was discharged from the Navy in 2014 after testing positive for cocaine.

The indictment also alleges that Hunter Biden possessed the firearm for nearly a week, despite being addicted to narcotics. The gun in question was later found in a trash can outside a market near a school.

If convicted, Hunter Biden faces a potential maximum sentence of 25 years in prison. Each count carries a maximum fine of $250,000 and three years of supervised release.

During the pretrial hearing, Judge Maryellen Noreika presided over the proceedings and set the trial date for June 3rd. The charges against Hunter Biden were brought by Special Counsel David Weiss, who was appointed to investigate his financial dealings.

In addition to the gun charges, Hunter Biden is also facing federal tax charges in California. The IRS alleges that he failed to pay $1.4 million in taxes from 2017 to 2020 and filed false tax reports.

Hunter Biden has pleaded not guilty to both the gun and tax charges. His attorneys have requested a delay in the tax trial, which is now scheduled to begin on September 5th.

The outcome of these legal proceedings is expected to shed light on Hunter Biden's financial and personal dealings, as well as the scrutiny he faces as the son of the current president.
