Illegal Immigration: A Threat to American Jobs and Economy

Mass migration does not strengthen the nation but instead robs citizens and legal residents of opportunities, security, and even lives.

Since the American public has awakened to the reality of illegal immigration, politicians, activists, and cable news pundits have attempted to silence concerns with slogans like "Immigration makes us stronger" and "Illegal immigration is a victimless crime." These Orwellian messages may have once been effective, but they crumble under the weight of evidence and personal experiences that paint a stark picture of a nation's culture, opportunities, and security eroding away.

The past few years have unequivocally demonstrated that uncontrolled mass migration does not strengthen the country and is far from victimless. Despite media efforts to reframe the crisis, countless U.S. citizens and legal residents have lost jobs, property, security, and even lives due to the ruling class's agenda to import the world's poverty problem into America.

While headlines in alternative media are dominated by stories of outrageous criminal activity by illegal aliens, far less attention is given to the impact on Americans' job prospects caused by the sudden influx of approximately 10 million foreign nationals into the population.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics' recent report brought this issue into sharp focus, revealing that native-born Americans lost more than 1.3 million jobs over the last 12 months, while foreign-born workers gained over 1.2 million jobs.

Despite the Biden administration touting modest overall positive job growth, they conveniently ignore this glaring disparity in the labor report. No alarm bells sound, and no administration members vow to address it. The data confirms what many have suspected - this White House and numerous other elected officials prioritize the interests of illegal aliens over American citizens.

The detrimental effects of unchecked illegal immigration on U.S. workers are not rocket science. When the number of available workers is limited, employers must compete for labor, leading to higher wages. However, when the labor pool is flooded with cheap foreign labor, the cost of labor decreases, allowing employers to pay workers less. Unscrupulous employers are also more likely to hire illegal laborers and exploit them.

Beyond simple negligence, politicians actively exacerbate the situation in the pursuit of pandering to a potential new voting bloc. New York Democratic Governor Kathy Hochul recently announced that her state would permit illegal aliens to obtain government jobs, setting a dangerous precedent.

To facilitate this, Hochul is relaxing the typical job requirements, including proficiency in English and possession of a high school diploma. A similar effort is underway in Denver, where government jobs are being eliminated for Americans as the city seeks to hire illegal aliens in blatant defiance of federal law.

These policies result in the outflow of vast sums of U.S. dollars. A 2019 study found that legal and illegal aliens annually send an average of $150 billion in untaxed remittances back to their home countries. This constitutes a significant economic incentive for illegal immigration, as American wages hold much greater value in their home countries.

The ultimate goal of anti-border politicians pushing work authorizations for illegal aliens is amnesty. By allowing illegal aliens to hold American jobs, they pave the way for legalization even if their asylum claims are denied. These leaders will argue that it would be heartless to deport aliens who have worked in the United States and settled into communities. However, this calculation fails to consider the impact on American citizens facing increased job competition daily.

The negative consequences of illegal immigration for U.S. workers are self-evident. When the labor pool is smaller, employers compete for workers, leading to higher wages. Conversely, when the labor market is saturated with low-cost foreign labor, the cost of labor decreases, and employers can reduce wages. Unscrupulous employers are also more inclined to hire and exploit illegal workers.

The COVID-19 pandemic battered the U.S. economy, forcing many small businesses to close and leaving millions of employees jobless. As the country struggles to regain economic prosperity, the last thing it needs is an endless stream of cheap foreign labor that intensifies job competition, lowers wages, and ships U.S. currency overseas.

While such policies may benefit big corporations and Wall Street, they poison American families. Until elected officials prioritize the interests of their citizens, America's slow and steady decline will continue.
