Jim Harbaugh's Delight in His Chargers Journey: "I'm the Lucky One to Be Here

Former Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has expressed his admiration for his new team and the culture he inherited at the Los Angeles Chargers.

Jim Harbaugh, the former Michigan coach who is now the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers, has been open about his enthusiasm for his return to the NFL. After leading the Chargers to a Week 1 victory against the Las Vegas Raiders, Harbaugh lauded his new team on Monday's episode of "The Herd."

"After being on the field for a day with the players, I realized the culture is already set here," Harbaugh remarked to host Colin Cowherd. "These guys have been doing the dirty work. The culture was set. I realized early on, I'm the lucky one to be here. This is the best darn job I've ever had."

Harbaugh expressed his appreciation for the entire organization's contribution to the Chargers' culture and praised the work ethic of each player. He particularly commended Justin Herbert, the team's Pro Bowl quarterback, as the hardest-working member of the squad.

"First time you watch him throw, the talent is there in every single way. The athletic ability. The work ethic," Harbaugh said of Herbert. "Nobody works harder than Justin Herbert on our team. [He's as] smart as they come … Everything about him. He's a fierce competitor. He really has it all."

Herbert had an impressive performance in Week 1, completing 17-of-26 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown. Rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey and running back J.K. Dobbins also scored touchdowns for the Chargers.

Harbaugh was particularly enthusiastic about Dobbins' performance, who rushed for 135 yards and the touchdown. "J. K. all day," Harbaugh exclaimed with a laugh. "J.K. played for my brother … it's like family."

Harbaugh's father had also been impressed with Dobbins' training camp performance, noting that he had returned to his pre-injury form and possibly even surpassed it.

Harbaugh's enthusiasm is primarily driven by one factor: winning. "I really love winning … Not a lot of better feelings than that," he stated. The Chargers will face the Carolina Panthers on Sept. 15 in Charlotte, North Carolina, in their next game.
