The Washington Post poll, published Wednesday, revealed that 44% of key swing state voters trust Trump more on the issue of protecting democracy, compared to just 33% who believe Biden would do a better job.
Behar specifically cited the poll's findings that 38% of "deciders," sporadic or uncommitted voters in key swing states, believe Trump is better suited to deal with threats to democracy, while only 29% believe Biden would do a better job.

She argued that the Republican Party aims to dismantle fundamental rights such as "gay marriage" and "women's rights." She also questioned the logic of undecided voters who express concerns about Biden's policies while ignoring the threats posed by Trump's authoritarian tendencies.
Co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin countered that many undecided voters genuinely cannot support Biden's policies, citing their disapproval of his student loan forgiveness and border control measures.

"This is between Biden and the couch. I don’t think it’s between Biden and Trump. I think most people, and it’s dismissive to say, you know, they’re undecided, so they’re crazy," Hostin asserted.
Behar agreed that undecided voters are not necessarily irrational but may be misinformed. She expressed hope that the upcoming debate between Biden and Trump would clarify the stark differences in their approaches to democracy and rally support for the candidate committed to its preservation.
The debate is scheduled to take place on Thursday for 90 minutes in Atlanta, Georgia, with no studio audience and muted microphones outside each candidate's speaking time to ensure a focused and orderly discussion.
