Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and National Border Patrol Council VP Jon Anfinsen denounce Vice President Kamala Harris' complete lack of engagement on the border crisis, accusing her of utter negligence and endangering the safety of the United States.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott launched a scathing attack on Vice President Kamala Harris, labeling her an "abject failure" in her handling of the border crisis and accusing her of jeopardizing American lives.
"President Biden explicitly assigned Kamala Harris the responsibility to manage the border," Abbott stated on "Faulkner Focus." "However, she has never once contacted me, despite Texas being at the heart of illegal border crossings."

Abbott emphasized that the Biden-Harris administration's primary duty is to protect the nation from threats, including terrorism. "Kamala Harris has utterly failed in this regard and has put Americans at risk," he declared.
The Governor's criticism stems from the alarming statistics revealing that 383 known terrorists have been apprehended at the border during the Biden administration, a figure that excludes undetected individuals. "The Biden-Harris administration's failure to secure the border has endangered our national security," Abbott maintained.

"If a 9/11-style attack were to occur, the responsibility would lie directly with Kamala Harris," he asserted, calling for accountability and redemption from her upcoming visit to Houston.
Abbott urged Harris to endorse a bill tabled by Senator Ted Cruz, the "Justice for Jocelyn Act," which requires Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to detain illegal immigrants in custody to prevent their release and potential involvement in future crimes.

National Border Patrol Council VP Jon Anfinsen echoed Abbott's sentiments, confirming that Harris has never reached out to their organization, despite being entrusted with the role of "border czar."
Anfinsen attributed the surge in illegal crossings and abuse of the asylum system to the Biden administration's dismantling of Trump-era policies. "They have essentially invited the world to enter the country illegally and exploit the asylum system," he stated.

He also lamented the demoralization within the Border Patrol, citing the administration's disregard for their mission. "The agency is plagued by retention and recruitment issues because the administration does not prioritize our work," Anfinsen explained.
Despite Harris' Vice Presidential pick, Anfinsen expressed doubt that it would positively influence voters' perception of her handling of the border crisis.

In March 2021, Biden appointed Harris to lead the administration's efforts to curb migration, a move that drew criticism due to the already escalating flow of migrants. Harris was tasked with diplomatic efforts in the Northern Triangle countries, with the aim of strengthening immigration enforcement and addressing root causes of migration.
However, the share of attempted crossings by migrants from the Northern Triangle has since declined, while overall unlawful crossings have reached unprecedented levels in 2021, 2022, and 2023, with migrants hailing from various regions, including China.
Despite the decrease in Northern Triangle crossings, the overall numbers remain alarming, underscoring the broader scope of the border crisis and the persistent challenges faced by the Biden-Harris administration in finding a comprehensive solution.
