Kamala Harris Accused of Stonewalling Investigation into Potential Collusion with Bloomberg-Founded Gun Control Group

Vice President Kamala Harris is facing criticism for allegedly overseeing an office that may have prioritized targeting a legal gun manufacturer over gun crimes. The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is investigating potential "collusion" with Everytown for Gun Safety, a gun control group founded by former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, to boost Chicago's lawsuit against Glock Inc.

Vice President Kamala Harris, who has campaigned on a record of being a tough former prosecutor, is now facing scrutiny over her oversight of a White House office that may have been more focused on targeting a legal gun manufacturer than addressing gun crimes.

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee is probing the Biden-Harris administration's alleged stonewalling of an investigation into potential "collusion" with Everytown for Gun Safety regarding a lawsuit filed by the city of Chicago against Glock Inc.

Since June, neither the White House nor the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) has responded to multiple inquiries from the committee, including one that was due August 28.

"The American people should be very concerned that, rather than prosecuting criminals, the Biden-Harris White House is colluding with anti-Second Amendment groups," said Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), chair of the committee.

The controversy stems from the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention's alleged communications with Everytown for Gun Safety regarding Chicago's lawsuit against Glock, which alleges that the company willfully sold pistols that can be easily converted into fully automatic weapons.

A September 2023 White House press release announced that Harris would oversee the Office of Gun Violence Prevention, which is led by Director Stefanie Feldman.

Despite multiple requests from the committee, neither the White House nor the ATF has responded to inquiries about the investigation.

In June, Comer wrote to Dettelbach and Feldman seeking information about communications between the administration and Everytown for Gun Safety in relation to the lawsuit.

Comer also wrote to ATF Director Steven Dettelbach after learning that the ATF had used encrypted apps and text messages to communicate with officials in the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention.

"The committee has failed to receive documents requested from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives related to its communication with the White House," Comer said.

The White House and ATF have not responded to inquiries from Fox News Digital.

The investigation also raises questions about the administration's approach to gun control, as Harris has previously vowed to crack down on gun violence but is now accused of focusing on targeting legal manufacturers rather than prosecuting criminals.

Amidst the controversy, Glock, the city of Chicago, and Everytown for Gun Safety have not responded to requests for comment.

Chicago filed its lawsuit in Cook County Circuit Court, attempting to restrict alterations that can occur with Glock pistols after they are sold. The city claims that the company knowingly distributed pistols that could be easily modified into fully automatic weapons.

The White House reportedly met with Glock representatives and requested changes to the company's pistol designs, according to the Oversight Committee.

Everytown for Gun Safety President John Feinblatt posted on social media about the meeting between Glock and the White House, raising concerns about possible collusion between the organization and the administration.

Comer's letter to the White House office on guns requested communications related to Glock and Chicago.

In a letter to the ATF director, Comer questioned the government's logic in holding Glock liable for illegal alterations, noting that law enforcement agencies widely use Glocks.

Neither the city of Chicago, Everytown for Gun Safety, nor Glock Inc. responded to inquiries for this story.

In July, Chicago and Everytown requested dismissal of the original complaint and filed an expanded complaint that included Glock-related companies and two gun stores.
