Kamala Harris Edges Trump in Wisconsin, but Economic Concerns Loom

A new Fox News poll shows Vice President Kamala Harris leading former President Donald Trump by a narrow margin in Wisconsin, but the economy remains a top concern for voters.

The Fox News poll, conducted July 22-24, 2024, found Harris receiving 49% support among Wisconsin voters, compared to Trump's 50%. This represents a slight shift in Harris' favor since April, when she trailed Trump by 1 point in a hypothetical matchup.

However, the poll also highlights the importance of economic issues for Wisconsin voters. Fully 37% of respondents cited the economy as their top priority for the fall election, trailed by abortion and immigration at 15% each.

"Most voters are still feeling the strain financially," said Democratic pollster Chris Anderson. "Harris has work to do convincing voters they'll be better off continuing with a Democrat in the White House."

The poll also found that Harris has a higher personal favorability rating than both Biden and Trump. She received 49% favorable and 49% unfavorable ratings, compared to Biden's 42% favorable and 54% unfavorable ratings and Trump's 45% favorable and 55% unfavorable ratings.

Despite Harris' narrow lead in the poll, Trump remains popular among certain demographics. He leads Harris among men by 14 points and has a 20-point advantage among White men without a college degree. Harris, on the other hand, enjoys strong support from urban voters, Whites with a college degree, and suburban women.

The poll also shows that Trump has gained ground with "double haters" – voters who hold unfavorable views of both Trump and Biden. In April, Trump led by 1 point among this group, but they now favor Harris by 25 points.
