Kerry Kennedy Disavows Brother RFK Jr.'s Support for Trump

In an emotional interview with MSNBC, Kerry Kennedy condemned her brother's endorsement of former President Trump, saying it "set fire" to their father's memory.

Kerry Kennedy, the sister of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has publicly disavowed her brother for supporting former President Donald Trump. In an interview with MSNBC's Joy Reid, Kerry expressed her deep disapproval of RFK Jr.'s decision.

"Personally, I completely disavow and separate and disassociate myself from my brother, Bobby Kennedy, and his flagrant and inexplicable effort to desecrate and trample and set fire to daddy's memory," she said.

Kerry emphasized that her brother's endorsement of Trump went against everything their father, Robert F. Kennedy, stood for.

"I love Bobby and I have tremendous respect for the work that he's done in the past," she said. "But on this, he's wrong. On this, it's really important for people to understand that the Kennedy family endorses Harris."

Kerry noted that Trump's policies and rhetoric would have been abhorrent to her father.

"If my dad were alive today he would detest almost everything about Donald Trump," she said. "His lying, his selfishness, his racism, his cynicism, hatred, fascist sympathies, deliberate misinformation about vaccines, criminal felony convictions, rape of E. Jean Carrol, his contempt for the poor and suffering, for ethics [and] for democracy."

Kerry's disavowal echoed similar sentiments expressed by other members of the Kennedy family. RFK Jr.'s wife, Cheryl Hines, also condemned his support for Trump, saying it was a "betrayal" of their family values.

RFK Jr. has defended his decision, claiming that he believes Trump is the best candidate to address the issues he cares about, such as ending the war in Ukraine and improving children's health. However, his family's disapproval has been a significant blow to his credibility.

Kerry's interview sparked a wider discussion about the division within the Kennedy family over the issue of supporting Trump. Some members have publicly condemned RFK Jr.'s decision, while others have remained silent.

The Kennedy family has a long history of political involvement, and its members have often had different political views. However, the current division over Trump has exposed a deep rift within the family.

RFK Jr.'s endorsement of Trump has tarnished the Kennedy legacy and raised questions about the family's future involvement in politics. The division within the family is likely to continue as the nation grapples with the ongoing political polarization.
