Kevin Costner: 'Yellowstone' Story Not Finished; America Is 'Something to Protect'

Kevin Costner, who recently exited the hit Paramount series 'Yellowstone,' believes that America is 'something to protect' and that people should set aside their egos and work together towards 'what is good for the nation.'

Kevin Costner, the renowned actor known for his iconic roles in films like 'Field of Dreams' and 'The Untouchables,' has recently expressed his thoughts on America and the future of the 'Yellowstone' television series.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Costner emphasized the importance of protecting America, stating, "America is something to protect. It's something that we should all be working towards, what's good for the nation." He urged people to "put our egos aside" and "come together" to build a better future for the country.

While Costner may have left 'Yellowstone,' the series appears to have an uncertain ending. The 69-year-old actor told Entertainment Tonight, "That's been a wonderful part of my life, you know, making 'Yellowstone.' And who knows, sometimes some things have a way of circling back. I haven't seen that dust trail coming toward me. But I've always been open to what I started. And the five seasons was a lot for us to do. I think that, you know, that story is not finished."

Despite Costner's departure, negotiations for a sixth season of 'Yellowstone' are currently underway, according to Deadline. Sources indicate that the show is likely to continue with Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly as the lead characters. The second half of season five is set to premiere on November 10th without Costner.

While the focus remains on completing season five, Hauser has hinted at the possibility of a spinoff featuring his character, Rip, and Reilly's Beth Dutton. "I'm so focused on finishing 'Yellowstone' the way it needs to be finished right now – well, just the show itself," Hauser told Country Living. "But I know that there's some stuff on the horizon when it comes to Taylor's ideas for Kelly Reilly and myself, and some of the other cast. I'm excited to see where he goes creatively with that."

After leaving 'Yellowstone,' Costner has turned his attention to his decades-long project, 'Horizon.' The first installment of the saga, 'Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1,' premiered in theaters, but its release has been delayed to give audiences "a greater opportunity to discover the first installment of 'Horizon' over the coming weeks." The release date for the third installment remains uncertain.
