Country music star Lainey Wilson credits her work ethic to her upbringing as a fifth-generation farmer's daughter. Raised on a farm in Baskin, Louisiana, Lainey Wilson learned the importance of hard work and determination from a young age. Her parents, Brian and Michelle Wilson, taught her the value of getting up every day and working towards her goals, no matter how challenging they may seem.
"My parents are the ones to blame for all of this," Wilson joked in an interview with Fox News Digital ahead of the 2024 ACM Awards. "They have truly supported me from the beginning."
She believes that her work ethic is rooted in her family's long history of farming. "I mean, on my mom's side and my daddy's side, they rolled their sleeves up. They got to work every single day and had good years and bad years, but at the end of the day, they loved it," Wilson said.
Her father's unwavering work ethic has been a constant source of inspiration for her. "He worked really hard, but he's not just working hard for himself. He's working hard for me and my sister and my mama and my sister's kids and one day my kids," Wilson said.
This understanding that her efforts extended beyond just herself has helped her to stay motivated even when faced with adversity. "It kind of takes a little bit of pressure off of you when you take yourself out of it, I guess it makes working hard a lot easier," she explained.
Wilson's farm upbringing has also influenced her perspective on life and success. "Your family is such a huge part of your identity. It's so important to keep your people close and to remember where you come from," she said.
This connection to her roots is evident in her music, as she often draws inspiration from her experiences and the people who raised her. Her recently released song, "Hang Tight Honey," is a tribute to the hardworking men and women who helped shape her into the person she is today.
"When I think about who I am today, it truly is because of the place and the people that raised me. It's always important to tip your hat to those people and it's very important for me to remember where I come from," Wilson said.
Despite her success in the music industry, Wilson remains humble and grateful for the upbringing that made her who she is. "I feel like it's important for me to remember where I come from and remind myself," she said.
Her desire to stay grounded is also evident in her choice to continue her partnership with Tractor Supply, a company that has been a part of her life since she was a young girl. "As a fifth generation farmer's daughter, I guess you could say it's pretty on brand," Wilson said.
She believes that her partnership with Tractor Supply is a full circle moment, as she can now represent the company that has played such a significant role in her life and the lives of her family.
"Tractor Supply, they represent what I live and what I love," Wilson said. "At the end of the day, in order for me to be able to tell the kind of stories that I'm supposed to tell and relate to my fans, I got to keep living as normal of a life as I possibly can."
