An officer with the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) in Kentucky has received "corrective action" following an internal investigation into the arrest of two-time PGA major winner Scottie Scheffler. The probe concluded that the officer, Det. Bryan Gillis, violated protocol by failing to turn on his body camera during the incident.

Gillis, who has a history of disciplinary issues within the LMPD, was initially involved in the arrest of Scheffler on May 17, 2024, after Scheffler was reportedly driving a PGA courtesy car and allegedly refused to comply with officers' commands. Surveillance footage emerged that appeared to contradict the officer's initial report, which suggested that Scheffler had dragged an officer.

According to WLKY in Louisville, Gillis has faced multiple suspensions throughout his career, including a five-day suspension in 2013 for allegedly performing "donuts" in a police car while an intoxicated individual was inside. He also reportedly received a four-day suspension in 2012 for violating the department's policy on court attendance and had been disciplined for similar offenses in 2010 and 2011.

Despite these disciplinary actions, Gillis has also received "numerous commendations" during his tenure with the LMPD.

In the wake of the Scheffler incident, Gillis was counselled by his supervisor. Scheffler, who was booked into a Kentucky jail but later released, has expressed appreciation for the LMPD's assistance. His arraignment has been postponed to June 3, and reports indicate that charges against him may be dropped.

Scheffler, who has since returned to golfing, commended the LMPD for their professionalism. The investigation into Gillis's conduct is ongoing, and the department has not provided further details on the "corrective action" taken against him.

Fox News Digital reached out to Gillis through the LMPD for comment but did not receive a response.
