Meghan Markle's Future Involvement in the Royal Family: Expert Weighs In

Princess Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, shares his insights on the likelihood of Meghan Markle attending the Invictus Games in the UK in 2027, amidst ongoing tensions with the royal family.

Princess Diana's biographer, Andrew Morton, has weighed in on the future of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's relationship with the British royal family. Morton believes that Meghan has "moved on" from the drama surrounding her departure from royal duties.

"I think she's done with it," Morton told Fox News Digital. "I think she's moved on."

Morton's comments come as speculation continues about whether Meghan will join Prince Harry for the Invictus Games in Birmingham, England, in 2027. It would mark her first time in the UK since Queen Elizabeth II died in 2022.

Royal expert Christopher Andersen believes it's "zero chance" that Meghan will miss the event, but her attendance could be brief and without their children, Archie and Lilibet.

"Meghan and Harry's security concerns are legitimate, but the rest of the royal family doesn't see it that way," Andersen said.

However, royal expert Hilary Fordwich claims that a possible appearance by Meghan is unlikely to spark peace talks with her in-laws.

"The royals have had zero reason to change their feelings regarding Meghan Markle," Fordwich said.

Harry has had a strained relationship with his family since he and Meghan quit royal duties in 2020. He has detailed his rocky relationship with them in TV interviews, a documentary, and his memoir, "Spare."

"It may mean that the Games is overshadowed by the royal rift as other royals almost certainly won't attend," royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams said.

Fitzwilliams also pointed out that Meghan's unpopularity in the UK has soared since she and Harry acrimoniously left the royal family.

"Given their abysmal poll ratings, Meghan may keep away," he said.

Harry has been fighting for his family's right to protection when they're on UK soil, but a court ruled against him in February. The decision was based on the argument that Harry and his family were still provided protection on some of their visits.

Despite the ruling, Andersen believes the royal family could solve the security issue if they wanted to.

"Since we are talking about a single event and not necessarily a wholesale policy change, it's obvious that accommodations could be made," Andersen said.

British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard agrees that it's not too late for Meghan to win over the UK public.

"If Meghan hopes to mend her damaged reputation here in the UK, she should travel to the U.K. and support her husband at the Invictus Games 2027," Chard said.

However, Chard also acknowledges that Meghan's life in the US is now her priority.

"She has moved on from her short time in the U.K.," Chard said. "She has also made it very clear that… she feels people in the U.K. don't like her."
