Meghan Markle's Remorseful over Feud with Kate Middleton, but Reconciliation Unlikely

Royal expert Andrew Morton weighs in on the future of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, suggesting that Meghan Markle may regret her past actions but faces an uphill battle for reconciliation with the royal family.

Meghan Markle is reportedly expressing remorse over her feud with Kate Middleton, according to British royal expert Hilary Fordwich. Fordwich claims that Markle, now known as the Duchess of Sussex, has been thinking about Middleton, who is battling cancer.

"Meghan Markle is purportedly remorseful. ... Well, one would hope," Fordwich told Fox News Digital.

Insiders have also revealed that Markle "wants to make peace" with Middleton despite "genuinely feeling hurt" over the feud. The two women last publicly saw each other at Queen Elizabeth II's funeral in September 2022.

However, royal expert Christopher Andersen believes that a reconciliation is unlikely. He explains that Kate and Meghan were never close, and that following the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal exit in 2020, Kate has focused on her family and serving the crown.

"From the very beginning, Kate and Meghan were hardly what I would call a love match," Andersen told Fox News Digital.

Andersen suggests that Kate has essentially walked away from the situation, leaving it up to her husband, Prince William, and Harry to resolve their differences. Meghan, on the other hand, has focused on her projects in California.

The rift between the royal wives came to light after Meghan and Prince Harry's televised interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. During the sit-down, Meghan addressed reports that she had left Kate in tears leading up to her royal wedding. Meghan denied the allegations and said that Kate had actually apologized to her.

Despite Meghan's claims, a spokesperson for Kensington Palace did not respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment at the time.

Many Britons had hoped that the Princess of Wales and the Duchess of Sussex would develop a close bond, but experts believe that a reconciliation is unlikely. Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner suggests that Prince William is dominating the dialogue and may be standing in the way of a reconciliation.

"Meghan has been sending out signals that she wishes to build bridges between herself and Prince Harry," Turner told Fox News Digital. "He misses his family. Meghan has experienced estrangement with her father and does not wish for the same intensity of bad blood for Harry."

However, Kinsey Schofield, host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast, claims that Meghan is focused on her latest business ventures, including her upcoming Netflix cooking show and her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard. Schofield believes that Meghan is not prioritizing reconciliation with the royal family.

Experts also suggest that even if Meghan were to apologize, it may not be enough for the royal family to forgive the Sussexes. Andersen believes that the Sussexes have "zero intention of apologizing" and that the wounds are "simply too deep."
