In 1972, Morris was a key contributor to the Dolphins' historic undefeated season. He rushed for 860 yards and seven touchdowns during the regular season. He also caught 41 passes for 438 yards and two touchdowns.

In the Super Bowl VII victory over the Washington Redskins, Morris rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown. He also caught three passes for 48 yards.

Morris continued to be a key member of the Dolphins for several more seasons. He was a Pro Bowl selection in 1973 and 1974. He also helped the Dolphins reach the Super Bowl again in 1973, though they lost to the Minnesota Vikings.
