Messi and Suárez Out of MLS All-Star Game Due to Injuries

**Lionel Messi** and **Luis Suárez**, Inter Miami's star players, will not participate in the MLS All-Star Game on Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, due to injuries.

Messi, a seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, sustained a right ankle injury during Argentina's Copa América final victory over Colombia on July 14. Suárez, Messi's teammate, is also sidelined with "knee discomfort."

Both players were listed as unavailable by the league on Monday.

Messi, 37, has missed Miami's recent victories over Toronto FC and the Chicago Fire due to the ankle injury. The team stated that the status of both players for Saturday's Leagues Cup opener at home against Mexican club Puebla "will be assessed based on their daily recovery process."

The MLS All-Star Game features top players from league clubs competing against players from Mexico's Liga MX.

Miami teammates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba will be available to play on Wednesday night.

Real Salt Lake forward Cristian Arango will also miss the All-Star Game due to a four-game suspension from Major League Soccer for violating the league's anti-harassment policy. Arango currently leads MLS with 17 goals and 11 assists.

Messi's absence from the All-Star Game is a significant blow to the league, as he is arguably the most famous and influential player in the world. His presence would have added excitement and prestige to the event.

Suárez's injury is also a disappointment, as he is a key player for Inter Miami and has been in excellent form this season.

The MLS All-Star Game is scheduled to take place at Lower.com Field in Columbus, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 10, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
