"I know I'm going to be a Cowboy," Parsons asserted on his podcast, "The Edge with Micah Parsons." "There's nothing like Cowboy Nation. I think the love is very mutual. … As for me, I'm just focused on winning games. I want to win those big games. I want to win those playoff games, get to the Super Bowl. For me, the contract is not really what I'm worried about."

Parsons sought a new contract during the offseason but negotiations between him and the Cowboys reportedly reached an impasse. Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted that Parsons sought a deal that would make him the highest-paid non-quarterback in the league, while executive vice president Stephen Jones later suggested Parsons was not seeking an extension at all.

However, unlike Prescott and Lamb, Parsons entered the 2023 season with two remaining years on his rookie contract after the Cowboys exercised his fifth-year option. This reduced the immediate pressure for a deal. Parsons also refrained from holding out during training camp, as Lamb had done last month to secure his extension.

Parsons' unwavering commitment to the team was evident in his comments about Prescott's recent contract. "Dak is that guy, no BS," Parsons stated. "He deserves everything that he [gets]. He never cheated the game, he comes in every day with positive attitude, great work ethic, and he's always first one in, last one out. Consistently being the best person, player you could possibly be."

Parsons' exceptional performance in the Cowboys' season-opening victory over the Cleveland Browns further bolstered his case for a substantial contract. He recorded four tackles, a sack, and a tipped pass that led to an interception. His efforts earned him FOX Sports NFL analyst Tom Brady's inaugural "LFG Player of the Game" award.

If Parsons continues to play at such a high level, he may well surpass Lamb as the highest-paid non-quarterback on the Cowboys' roster next offseason. Parsons' unwavering focus on winning and his impressive on-field performance suggest that a lucrative contract extension is only a matter of time.
