The incident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. when police responded to reports of a disturbance involving two women who had to be physically separated by officers.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital, Northrup claimed that Danforth approached her aggressively, spitting in her face. She further alleged that she attempted to distance herself from Danforth but was grabbed by the hair and pinned down.

Danforth, on the other hand, told police that Northrup initiated the physical confrontation by punching her.

Both women acknowledged engaging in a physical altercation, but neither could provide a clear account of how it started due to the lack of credible witnesses, the affidavit stated.

Witnesses present during the scuffle were unable to determine the instigator due to conflicting accounts and insufficient evidence.

Northrup sustained scratches on her neck, elbow, and stomach during the altercation and was examined by EMS at the scene. Danforth was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation due to feeling unwell.

Both women were subsequently arrested and charged with battery. They were booked at the Sumter County Detention Center and released after each posting $1,000 bond, as per jail records.

The incident highlights the potential for seemingly trivial disputes to escalate into serious altercations, especially when fueled by heightened emotions or alcohol consumption.
