Motorcycle Thieves Foiled by Homeowner, Caught on Camera Pantsless

Two would-be motorcycle bandits found themselves in a sticky situation this week when they were caught on surveillance camera trying to steal a bike – with their pants down. The homeowners' quick thinking and the viral video footage have made it a challenge for the duo to get away with the crime.

In a brazen daylight robbery attempt, two thieves were caught red-handed – and pantsless – on surveillance video trying to steal a motorcycle in Arizona last week. The incident, which was captured on camera by the homeowners, Krystal Hobeiche and Eric Smith, ended with the thieves fleeing the scene as the homeowner confronted them.

Hobeiche, who was inside the house at the time, was alerted to the attempted theft by the sound of her barking dog. She immediately ran to the window and saw the two suspects trying to remove the motorcycle from their property.

"I was dialing 911 as I banged on the window," Hobeiche told FOX 10 Phoenix.

Smith, who was in the backyard at the time, also witnessed the attempted theft and rushed to confront the suspects.

"It looks like a fake video somebody would make. Like, let's try to get viral with this guy's pants falling down, trying to steal a motorcycle. Except it was my motorcycle, so I'm pretty sure it wasn't fake," Smith told FOX 10 Phoenix.

The suspects, who were wearing dark clothing, face masks, and gloves, attempted to lift the motorcycle up into a white pickup truck. However, they were unsuccessful in their efforts as Hobeiche and Smith's quick actions scared them away.

Phoenix police were called to the scene and are currently investigating the incident. The two suspects are yet to be identified or brought into custody.

Hobeiche, who was shaken by the incident, said she was "a little shocked at what I was seeing."

"Around 6:45 a.m. on 8/14/24, officers responded to the area of 8000 South 53rd Avenue regarding an attempted stolen vehicle," read a statement to Fox News Digital from Phoenix PD. "When officers arrived, they contacted the owner of a motorcycle who stated that they observed unknown suspect(s) attempting to steal the motorcycle."

Smith, who owns the motorcycle, said he hopes the video will help police find the suspects.

"I want this video to get as much exposure as possible. Exposure because of the butt," Smith said to FOX 10 Phoenix.

"But as many people to see the video as possible so we can find these guys and hopefully get them some good fitting pants in jail," Smith added.

The motorcycle remains safe at home with Smith and Hobeiche after the attempted theft.

"You know after the moment you start thinking back at it, did they have a weapon? Are they going to get a gun from their truck? Are they going to come back?" Krystal shared with FOX 10 Phoenix. "I'm hoping they get caught so they don't do it to anybody else."

The incident highlights the importance of home security and the need to report suspicious activity to the authorities. Homeowners should take precautions to protect their property, such as installing security cameras, lighting up their surroundings, and reporting any suspicious activity to the police.
