The highly anticipated NFL game between the Green Bay Packers and Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil on September 6th has taken an unexpected turn, with fans being advised to refrain from wearing green clothing. According to Packers running back Josh Jacobs, who revealed the news on Chris Long's podcast, wearing green in the area where the game will be played is a potential safety hazard.

"The part of Brazil that we're going to, you can't even wear green. They said, I guess, something to do with the gangs and stuff," Jacobs explained.

This revelation comes as a surprise, considering that green is the primary color for both the Packers and Eagles. However, Jacobs emphasized the seriousness of the situation, advising fans to pack black and white clothing instead.

"I was told to pack black and white, which should be no issue for him as a former Raider," Jacobs said.

He also expressed concerns about the safety of the area where the teams will be staying, suggesting that it may be best to avoid any unnecessary risks.

"They said, 'We're not going to Rio.' They was like, 'Man, it's one of them places where they probably won't even let us leave the hotels,'" Jacobs added.

"I was looking forward to it. This was about to be a fun week. They're like, ‘Nah, it’s not going to be like that."

The prohibition on green clothing is reportedly due to unwritten rules at Corinthians Arena, where the game will be played. The stadium is home to the Corinthians football club, whose archrival Palmeiras wears green. As a result, green is considered "forbidden" within the stadium.

While the Packers have alternate jerseys and helmets without green, the Eagles do not have a non-green helmet. It remains to be seen whether this prohibition will be enforced at the game, but fans are advised to err on the side of caution and avoid wearing green clothing.

The NFL has yet to officially comment on the matter, but has stated that they will not be taking the teams to Rio due to safety concerns.

Fans planning to attend the game are urged to follow the advice of Jacobs and other officials and refrain from wearing green clothing. Safety should be paramount, and it is not worth risking any potential incidents by violating local customs.
