Nick Saban Pokes Fun at Marshawn Lynch's Super Bowl Moment

Nick Saban, the former Alabama football coach, had some friendly digs during Saturday's "College GameDay" broadcast, including teasing Marshawn Lynch about an infamous moment in his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

Nick Saban, the former Alabama football coach, made his debut as an analyst on ESPN's "College GameDay" and quickly showed that he wasn't afraid to dish out some friendly digs. During Saturday's broadcast, Saban took aim at former NFL running back and Cal alum Marshawn Lynch.

During the crew's picks for the matchup between Cal and Miami, Saban picked Miami over Cal, but not without teasing Lynch further about an infamous moment in his career with the Seattle Seahawks.

"We may disagree on our pick," Saban said, "but I am telling you man, fourth and 1 in the Super Bowl at the 1 (yard-line), I am giving your a-- the ball. Right here."

Lynch managed to laugh off the comment, as did the rest of the crew.

The comment referred to the 2015 Super Bowl, when the Seahawks, led by Russell Wilson, opted to throw the ball at the 1-yard-line on fourth down instead of handing the ball off to Lynch. The pass was intercepted by Malcolm Butler, giving the New England Patriots their fourth Super Bowl title.

Saban's comment was just one of several digs he made during the broadcast. He also poked fun at his former quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, who is now the starting quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.

"Tua, I love you," Saban said. "But you're not going to win a Heisman Trophy at Miami."

Saban's comments were all in good fun, and he seemed to be enjoying his new role as an analyst. He even got in on the action during the show's famous "Lee Corso headgear" segment, donning a Cal hat.

"College GameDay" made its first ever appearance in Berkeley Saturday in what is Cal's first ACC home game in its new conference. Despite what a victory on Saturday night would mean in the conference, the Bears are also seeking their first win against a ranked team since beating No. 21 Oregon in 2020.

Saban's appearance on "College GameDay" was a welcome addition to the show, and his friendly digs at Lynch and Tagovailoa were a reminder that he's not afraid to have some fun.
