Nick Wright has released his annual quarterback pyramid rankings, with Patrick Mahomes once again at the summit of "Mahomes Mountain." The rankings include both established stars and rising rookies, with only one rookie quarterback making it higher than Tier 7.
Nick Wright has unveiled his latest quarterback pyramid rankings, a tier-based system named after three-time Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes, who Wright considers the pinnacle of the NFL quarterback landscape.
As with previous iterations, Wright has placed Mahomes firmly atop the mountain in Tier 1, leaving Tier 2 vacant as no other quarterback has yet reached his lofty heights.
At the base of the mountain, Wright lists a group of six quarterbacks who have failed to meet expectations or have yet to establish themselves as reliable starters. This group includes former Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson, who has struggled since joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as highly touted prospects Bryce Young and Will Levis.
Tier 7 features a mix of established starters and promising rookies. Seattle's Geno Smith, who had a breakout season in 2023, leads the pack, followed by Anthony Richardson, Jayden Daniels, J.J. McCarthy, and Deshaun Watson.
Moving up the mountain, Tier 6 consists of a solid group of veteran quarterbacks who have proven their capabilities. Kirk Cousins, Brock Purdy, Aaron Rodgers, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Tua Tagovailoa are all included in this tier.
Tier 5 is reserved for quarterbacks who have shown flashes of greatness but have yet to fully establish themselves. Jordan Love, Trevor Lawrence, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, and Jalen Hurts all fall into this category.
Tier 4 represents the NFL's elite quarterbacks. Matthew Stafford, Lamar Jackson, Caleb Williams, and Justin Herbert all possess the skills and experience to lead their teams to the highest levels of success.
At the doorstep of the mountain's summit, Tier 3 features quarterbacks who have taken the NFL by storm and are widely considered to be among the league's best. Joe Burrow, C.J. Stroud, and Josh Allen have all demonstrated exceptional talent and are poised for even greater achievements.
At the pinnacle of the pyramid, Patrick Mahomes stands alone in Tier 1. Widely regarded as the NFL's most dynamic and skilled quarterback, Mahomes has led the Kansas City Chiefs to multiple Super Bowl victories and is considered by many to be the greatest player in the game today.
