CNN senior legal analyst Elie Honig also condemned the case as an "unjustified mess," arguing that prosecutors "contorted the law" in their pursuit of Trump.
Honig asserts that the jury's verdict "deserves respect," but he criticizes the "structural infirmity" of the case, stating that the prosecutors and judge should bear responsibility for the flawed approach. He questions whether the jury would have been as accepting of the verdict if the judge had donated funds to a pro-Trump group instead of a pro-Biden one.
