In a candid interview on "Good Morning America," actress Olivia Munn delved into the personal and emotional toll her recent breast cancer diagnosis has taken on her life. The 43-year-old star, who underwent a double mastectomy in 2022, revealed the heart-wrenching motivation behind her decision to document her cancer journey: her two-year-old son, Malcolm.

"If I didn’t make it, I wanted my son when he got older to know that I fought to be here," Munn shared. "That I tried my best."

Munn's unwavering determination to be present for her son spurred her to seek alternative treatment options when the debilitating side effects of hormone suppression therapy left her bedridden. She ultimately opted for a hysterectomy and ovariectomy, which restored her energy and allowed her to fully engage with Malcolm.

Despite her aggressive approach to treatment, Munn faced a difficult decision when her doctor recommended additional medication to suppress the production of hormones that could lead to cancer in other parts of her body.

"It’s so tiring," Munn admitted. "These drugs are so tiring, and I know I’m going to stay aggressive. I know I’m going to do it. I’m just surprised that I’m even asking for anything less than aggressive."

Through her cancer journey, Munn has discovered a newfound inner strength and clarity about her priorities.

"I'm a lot braver than I thought I was," she said.

"And I learned that the most important thing to me in life is my family," Munn continued. "Everything else can go away, I don't have my career, I don't have my body the way that it looked before, but as long as the people that I love and care about are here and healthy and thriving nothing else matters."

Munn's resilience and unwavering love for her family have empowered her to embrace the challenges ahead, including her desire to expand her family. Despite the risks posed by her cancer, she underwent a round of egg retrieval prior to her surgeries, resulting in two healthy embryos.

"We really just hope that it works out for us to be able to have another baby," Munn said. "I just want one more. I'm not going to ask for too much more in this life, I promise. I just want one more baby."

Munn's story is a testament to the power of courage, resilience, and the unbreakable bond of family. Her determination to fight for her future and provide a loving home for her son and potential future children is an inspiration to all who face life's challenges.
