"My call time would typically be midnight to get ready for a 9am shoot. So I would get there at midnight and be painted all night long," Romijn shared.

Despite the extended paint sessions, Romijn remained actively involved in the process, collaborating with the makeup artists to ensure precision and authenticity. "I had to really help out a lot," she exclaimed. "It was exhausting!"

The physical toll of the body paint extended beyond the lengthy application process. Romijn humorously reveals that her commitment to Mystique's blue hue extended to her personal life.

"I couldn't keep any secrets on 'X-Men,'" she admitted with a laugh. "I left a lot of blue toilet seats behind."

"The Marvel fandom is really intense," Romijn said. "You don’t want to get it wrong, you want to please everybody. It was scarier with the Marvel fandom than with the Trekkies."
