RFK Jr. Apologizes to Former Babysitter, Acknowledges Potential Apologies to Other Women

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has apologized to a former babysitter who accused him of sexual assault and admits that he may need to apologize to other women from his past.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr., an independent presidential candidate, has recently admitted that he may have to issue apologies to additional women from his past after a former babysitter accused him of sexual assault. Kennedy's admission comes as part of an interview with CBS News Chief Washington Correspondent Major Garrett.

The accusation against Kennedy arose from Eliza Cooney, who worked for the Kennedy family as a young woman. In early July, Cooney shared her account with Vanity Fair, alleging that Kennedy forcibly groped her in the late 1990s.

Following the publication of Cooney's report, Kennedy reportedly apologized via text message, according to The Washington Post. However, during his interview with CBS News, Kennedy declined to provide a public statement on the matter, stating that his apology to Cooney was a private correspondence.

Kennedy further stated that he has no recollection of the alleged assault, describing it as "out of character." Nonetheless, he acknowledges the potential for misinterpretations in human interactions and expresses his willingness to make amends if he has caused harm.

"You know, human interactions are complicated. People have different interpretations of them and if I did anything to hurt somebody, I'm going to make amends for that," Kennedy said.

When asked by Garrett if he anticipates making any further apologies in the future, Kennedy replied, "It's quite possible." He emphasizes his 70 years of life and acknowledges a "rambunctious" past.

Kennedy's apology to Cooney has garnered attention due to his independent presidential candidacy. After the Democratic Party blocked his bid to challenge President Biden in the primaries, Kennedy launched his campaign as an independent.

Despite his break from the Democratic Party, Kennedy maintains that the upcoming presidential election remains a "two-man race" between himself and former President Donald Trump. He believes he is the only candidate capable of defeating Trump in the wake of Biden's withdrawal.

Kennedy's campaign platform focuses on combating "corporate capture," addressing the affordability crisis, and opposing "forever wars." Recent polls suggest that Kennedy has gained support, with a Fox News Poll indicating that he would receive 10% of the general electoral vote in a three-way race against Trump and Biden.

Fox News Digital reached out to the Kennedy campaign for comment but has yet to receive a response. The campaign's website also includes a statement regarding Kennedy's apology to Cooney, reiterating his commitment to taking responsibility for any actions that may have caused harm.
