Subway Series Rivalry Extends to Broadcast Booths

YES Network's Michael Kay sparks a heated debate over which broadcast booth is the best in baseball, after SNY's "best booth in baseball" ad ran on his radio show.

The Subway Series rivalry between the New York Yankees and Mets has been taken to a new level, this time extending to the broadcast booths of both teams.

YES Network's Michael Kay, who has been calling Yankee games since 1992, has sparked a heated debate over which broadcast booth is the best in baseball after SNY's "best booth in baseball" ad featuring Gary Cohen, Ron Darling, and Keith Hernandez ran on his radio show.

"I think our booth is the best booth in baseball. ... I'll take [Paul] O'Neill, [David] Cone and me over Gar, Ron and Keith. I would. I mean, they're great, but so is our booth," Kay said on his radio show Tuesday afternoon.

The rivalry between the two broadcast booths has been brewing for years, but it reached a boiling point this week after SNY's ad ran on Kay's show.

"I think they should feel that way. And I feel that way [about the YES booth]. But you also have to be somewhat out of a mindset of being completely clueless to run that on 'The Michael Kay Show,'" he said.

"Does it make sense for them to have the host of the show retort what they said? And I'm a big fan of Gary, Ron and Keith. I think they do a great job. But to say 'best booth in baseball' when one of the hosts of the show that you're running it on is in the other booth," Kay added.

SNY's booth, which has been together since 2006, is widely regarded as one of the best in the sport. Cohen, Darling, and Hernandez have a great chemistry and provide insightful commentary on the game.

YES's booth, which has been together since 2002, is also highly regarded. Kay, O'Neill, and Cone have a lot of experience calling games and provide a lot of entertainment value.

So, who has the best booth in baseball? It's a matter of opinion, but both the YES and SNY booths are among the best in the sport.

Fans of both teams can agree on one thing: the Subway Series rivalry is one of the best in baseball. The two teams are always competitive and the games are always exciting.

The rivalry between the two broadcast booths is just another chapter in this great rivalry. It's sure to continue for many years to come.
